This place is what some refer to as nostalgic. Near Downtown, the park is recognized as part of the Stockton campus of Stanislaus State. Although the buildings are antiquated, the campus originally served as a state hospital, dating all the way back to the 1850’s. Up until circa 1852-53, it had then switched to primarily a mental hospital, dubbing it the FIRST mental hospital in California. It wasn’t until 1998 that the hospital would convert into the Stockton campus of Stanislaus State University.

Taken around Waterloo, California (Unincorporated CDP of San Joaquin County). 2025
CDP, also known as a Census Designated Place, are communities that are closely settled, rural, or recognized by name. These unincorporated communities merely serve as a statistic for statistical purposes only. If you live in Stockton, it is heading northeast, going towards Linden, another CDP in the San Joaquin. Waterloo can be recognized by being right off the Highway 88, otherwise known as E. Waterloo Road. Going west, right before the entrance to Highway 99, you’ll find a strip of fast food chains containing Wendy’s to Subway to Chipotle, you’ll find yourself well fed with the various fast food spots and rested at the hotels if you are commuting through San Joaquin.

Santa Cruz, California. 2025-2026.
I fell in love twice here. The first time was so sweet and intimate and made me realize that having a couple good friends is better than having a group of bad friends. The boardwalk is a staple to Santa Cruz and remains iconic to the tourists and visitors of Santa Cruz. The boardwalk also holds the iconic Giant Dipper roller coaster, which is the fifth oldest roller coaster in the states. You might find yourself in Santa Cruz thinking that the boardwalk is the only option to visit but you’d be wrong. The Henry Cowell State Park is a hidden gem to some, as you can find the park before heading into the city, it holds natural pools and wildlife to sightsee. This was the second time I fell in love because I had never experienced a river so cold and discreet. It was a nice ambience and quite a travel if you love hiking. Santa Cruz also holds a popular surf culture among the community as it sits on the northern side of Monterey Bay.
